Healthy Snacks for Weight Loss

Just because you are trying to lose weight, it doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy some of your favorite treats once in a while. There are actually all kinds of delicious, healthy snacks for weight loss that you can enjoy at any time. You can get a lot of these treats pre-packaged, or you can go an even healthier route and make your own snacks that are great for your diet, and so healthy and delicious that everyone in your family will love them.

Mid-Morning Fruit Smoothies

If you want a delicious treat that is loaded with protein and will give you that pick-me-up you need just before lunch, this is idea.

  • 1 Cup Frozen Strawberries and Raspberries
  • 1 Banana, Sliced
  • Low-Calorie or Light Orange Juice or Lemonade
  • Fruit-Flavored Protein Powder

Place all ingredients into blender until well mixed. The frozen berries will take the place of the ice, so if your drink melts you will still have plenty of flavor. This doesn’t have to be a mid-morning snack either, as it is a great treat to have at any time of the day or night.

Afternoon Trail Mix

Here is a treat you can have any place, and at any time. Just go to your nearest bulk store or health food store to get the following ingredients:

  • Raisins
  • Dried Cranberries
  • Dried Pineapple
  • Dried Apples
  • Sunflower Seeds
  • Unsalted Cashews and Other Nuts
  • Flaked, Unsweetened Coconut

Throw all of these ingredients in a bag and enjoy. As long as you don’t go overboard, you can even add a few chocolate chips for a sweet treat. Again, this is a treat you can enjoy at any time of the day for a quick snack or a protein boost.

Freezer Pops

These are a tasty treat, and ideal for a hot summer day. All you need is an ice cube tray and toothpicks or popsicle sticks (or an actual freeze pop tray if you have one) and your favorite low-calorie juice. Simply pour the juice into the tray and insert the sticks. If you are using an ice cube tray, you will need to cover it with plastic wrap in order for the sticks to stand up. Place in the freezer for a few hours and they’re ready to eat.

Delicious Low-Cal Dip

Here is a dip that is low in fat and calories, easy to make, and oh so delicious. You will need:

  • 1 Package of Light or Low-Fat Cream Cheese
  • 2-4 TBSP Light Salad Dressing (Any Flavor…Caesar Tastes Great)

Combine ingredients and mix in a food processor until well-blended. Enjoy with your favorite veggies or low-fat, low-calorie crackers. Avoid the potato chips if you are trying to lose weight!

As you can see, you don’t have to skimp on taste to be able to enjoy healthy snacks for weight loss. In fact, you can copy many of your favorite snacks in a healthy way by replacing just a few of the more fattening ingredients.
